Endysism Silicle was born from a profound connection to Romania's breathtaking natural landscapes and a deep concern for their preservation. Our story began in 2018 when four passionate environmental scientists and tourism experts gathered in Cluj-Napoca to discuss the alarming rate at which Romania's pristine wilderness was being compromised by unsustainable development and mass tourism.
What started as informal conservation projects and guided nature walks for friends and colleagues quickly evolved into a structured organization dedicated to protecting Romania's ecological treasures while creating meaningful, low-impact experiences for visitors.
By 2022, we had established partnerships with local communities across the Carpathians, Danube Delta, and Transylvanian highlands. Our scientific research initiatives gained recognition, and our sustainable tourism model began receiving international attention for its innovative approach to balancing conservation with responsible exploration.
Now, as we approach 2026, Endysism Silicle has grown into Romania's leading eco-conservation and sustainable tourism organization, with multiple preservation projects, educational programs, and award-winning eco-tours that serve as a model for responsible nature-based enterprises across Eastern Europe.
To preserve Romania's natural heritage through scientific research, community involvement, and sustainable tourism, creating a model of environmental stewardship that balances ecological protection with human wellbeing.
We place the health of ecosystems at the center of all decisions, ensuring our activities contribute positively to biodiversity and habitat protection while minimizing our ecological footprint.
Our conservation work and educational programs are grounded in peer-reviewed research and continuous monitoring, allowing us to adapt our approaches based on empirical evidence rather than assumptions.
We recognize that sustainable conservation requires the involvement and prosperity of local communities. By creating economic opportunities through eco-tourism and traditional craft preservation, we ensure that environmental protection becomes a shared goal.
We believe in the transformative power of knowledge and experience. Through immersive learning opportunities, we inspire visitors and locals alike to become advocates for environmental protection in their own communities.
The passionate experts behind our conservation and eco-tourism initiatives
Founder & Conservation Director
With a Ph.D. in Conservation Biology from the University of Bucharest and over 15 years of field experience across the Carpathian region, Elena leads our scientific research initiatives and habitat restoration projects. Her groundbreaking work on forest ecosystem connectivity has influenced conservation policy throughout Eastern Europe.
Sustainable Tourism Director
Combining an MBA in Sustainable Business with his background as a professional mountain guide, Mihai revolutionized our approach to eco-tourism. He developed our zero-waste tour protocols and carbon-neutral operations framework while ensuring visitors experience the authentic beauty of Romania's wilderness in meaningful, low-impact ways.
Wetlands Ecology Specialist
Andreea leads our Danube Delta restoration initiatives, applying her expertise in wetland ecosystems and water quality monitoring. After completing her doctoral research at Oxford University, she returned to her native Romania to develop innovative approaches to reconciling traditional fishing practices with biodiversity conservation in this critical ecosystem.
Community Relations Manager
With deep roots in rural Transylvania and a background in cultural anthropology, Gabriel bridges the gap between conservation science and local communities. His innovative approach to participatory conservation has created economic opportunities for traditional farmers and craftspeople while engaging them as active partners in environmental stewardship.
Measurable results from our commitment to Romania's natural heritage
Through strategic partnerships with landowners, local governments, and international conservation organizations, we've secured legal protection for over 12,500 hectares of critical habitats across Romania, creating wildlife corridors and biodiversity reserves.
Our community-based conservation model has created sustainable livelihoods in 38 rural villages, where ecological monitoring, traditional agriculture, and eco-tourism now provide viable alternatives to environmentally harmful practices.
Our targeted conservation programs have contributed to population recoveries for 24 endangered species, including the European bison, brown bear, and multiple endemic plant species through habitat restoration, anti-poaching initiatives, and scientific monitoring.
We've introduced more than 15,000 visitors to Romania's natural wonders through our zero-waste, carbon-neutral tours, transforming them into advocates for conservation while generating sustainable income for local communities and conservation projects.

Feedback from collaborators and supporters of our mission
"Endysism Silicle represents the gold standard in community-based conservation. Their rigorous scientific approach combined with genuine respect for local knowledge has produced measurable ecological benefits while improving livelihoods. Our institute's partnership with them has been one of our most productive international collaborations."
"When they first approached our village about conservation partnerships, we were skeptical. Previous environmental projects had excluded local voices. But Endysism Silicle was different—they listened to our needs, incorporated traditional knowledge, and created economic opportunities that made conservation beneficial for everyone. Our community now takes great pride in protecting our natural heritage."
"As a funding partner for conservation initiatives across Eastern Europe, we've seen many approaches to environmental protection. Endysism Silicle stands out for their exceptional data-driven methodology and transparent reporting. Their model of integrating tourism revenue into conservation funding creates a sustainable financial framework that doesn't solely rely on grants or donations."
